INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Developed in India over a thousand years ago, Indian Head Massage is based on the Ayurvedic system of healing.

The Massage encompasses the head, face, neck and shoulders in a sometimes vigorous but comfortable treatment. Techniques including circling under the occipital bone at the back of the head, thumbing along the tops of the shoulders, head rubbing, and gentle root pulling combine to make this a varied and highly enjoyable Massage routine.

Who is it good for?

As well as being very enjoyable and soothing, Indian Head Massage has the effect of stimulating the mind and body. It is extremely useful for producing the following effects:

– Relieving headaches
– Soothing anxiety and stress
– Aiding sleep quality and encouraging healthy sleep patterns
– Reducing general tension in the body, particularly the neck and shoulders
– Possibly stimulating hair regrowth where follicles remain intact

What can you expect?

An Indian Head Massage session with me lasts for around half an hour. Following a brief consultation, you will be seated in a low-back chair or stool to receive your Massage. You will remain clothed but wearing a shoulderless vest is ideal to work most effectively on your neck and shoulder areas. During the treatment, you may experience some new techniques and sensations such as gentle hair root pulling and light finger hacking on the head.

These techniques will always be done within your comfort level and are designed to be stimulating and invigorating whilst also being highly enjoyable. I do not use oil so you do not need to worry about oil on your hair or clothes. You can come for an Indian Head Massage as often as you enjoy or need. Many people find that regular Indian Head Massage treatments help to relieve chronic headaches and upper body tension, as well as promoting healthy sleep patterns and the ability to focus the mind more clearly.
